- Their official dimensions and recency rules differ despite both accepting sub-2 MB JPEG photos.
- The University of Cincinnati accepts high-resolution JPEG Bearcat Card photos and provides its own crop step, but publishes no byte or pixel limit.
- Universities set their own ID-photo validators.
